What is Rhythmic Gymnastics?
Rhythmic gymnastics is a beautiful olympic sport that involves the best aspects of gymnastics, dance, acrobatics, and ballet. Gymnasts show a great amount of flexibility, strength, grace, and self-expression by manipulating their apparatus during a routine. Rhythmic routines are choreographed to music using beautifully colored ropes, balls, ribbons, clubs, and hoops. Gymnasts show skills of leaps, pivots, and balances.
Rhythmic gymnastics is a sport recognized by the Federation of International Gymnastics (FIG) and USA Gymnastics (USAG). There are competitions held by these two organizations across the globe for both individual and group competition. See the video to learn more!
